I'm currently doing a project using this part. You can use external memory and both serial ports at the same time. I'm not sure what has given you the impression that you cannot do this. The first serial port uses port3, I can't recall off the top of my head what ports the second serial uses. I've not used SDCC (I'm using Raisonance), but what you have to be aware of is setting the correct bits to enable internal xram and/or external accesses in the startup code. How exactly with SDCC you do this, I don't know. I'm using the TI development board. |
