#84234 - it's a Great Idea Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I have deigned a same charger using An Atmel Atiny15L ,because of the small layout and some other reasons, but if you are about to use an 8051 MCU core ,i suggest you to use a derivative that integrate an 8-10 bit internal ADC ,and A Power Fet drived by PWM to be able to generate the flexible current you need to support all types of batteries.
Look at the next link for a very detailed application on battery charging using atmel AVR MCU series. you can find very good info eg. how to charge a Ni-NH battery and charging WaveForms. Also you find diffrent types of charging algorithms and charge termination (very important thing about Quick, intelligent Battery Chargering). Also you can fing a bounch of info with using Google.com with terms of like : "Battery Charging Algorithms" (the application includes All types of batteries inclucding : Ni-CD,Ni-MH,Li-ion,SLA,LA) Here is the Atmel application folder link : http://www.atmel.com/dyn/produ...ol_id=2728 Let me know if you wanted more info but please desribe your question more specific.
