![]() ... a quite common way how to make 64kB SRAM from 2x 32kB SRAMs (62256). I don't thing EMC would be an issue here - the chips are quite far from each other to make significant coupling. I would perhaps put one socket for the lower chip, then solder an another to the top of the lower chip for the upper chip. Besides being interchangable, this would also increase ventillation and reduce the risk of overheating, if the SRAMs are going to be of "high-speed" type (which for a DSO I guess will).
