You sem to read some peculiar books on 8051.
How about reading the information given in the link by Andy Neil Chapter 3 - 80C51 Family Hardware Description: http://www.semiconductors.philips.com/acrobat/v...WARE_1.pdf that is often referred to as "the bible" and is by most people active on this forum seen as correct. If you have other info please share the source with us. You write: And on startup the ports are defined as output. This is mentioned in any book on 8051.
