#90474 - Can you check once again? Responding to: ???'s previous message |

No, it was copied to the program files directory but never installed. The patch I found was not for the .inf file but a .dll. When I replace the .dll (which is what I assume you are supposed to do as there are no instructions for the patch which has an earlier creation date??) FLIP will not work at all; it loads into memory but never shows up on the screen or task bar.
Is it working for you; how did you install it? I'm trying to manually copy the .sys file and update the registry; it's the only thing left I can think of to try. When I go to the device manager it shows up as an unknown USB device. It won't let me change the driver as it says no better driver is found when I try forcing it to select that driver but it also say no driver is installed. When I remove the device and search for updates it comes back saying my hardware has been installed--but there is still no driver and it won't let me install one. Errrrr! Bobby, Just installed the program myself now, and it went without any problem. But see my previous answer: did you change the 'bad' usb file which is in the original installation package? The original .inf file is wrong and must be replaced with the one which is part of the patch Atmel has released. Let's first sync with each other. The programs I'm referring to, are: flip-2_4_2.zipand Release_Notes_FLIP_2.4.2.zipAre we talking about the same? If you look to the accompanying document, then you can see the following statement: ************************************************************** | | Flip 2.4.2 Bugs : | | 1. The installation of USB driver fails. This problem is due | | to the inf file provided in Flip 2.4.2 package. | | Workaround: | | Please, first, uninstall the device. | | Replace the <Flip_Installation_Folder>FLIP 2.4.2usbusb_dfu.inf | | with the new file attached. | | 2. Connect the device in ISP mode. | | When the device enumerates for ISP, Windows opens a | | "New Device Detected" wizard. | | 3. Choose the driver install in a "specific location". | | Then Windows prompts you for the location of the driver. | | The path which must be writen is : | | "<Flip_Installation_Folder>FLIP 2.4.2usb" folder of FLIP which | | contains the INF file and the driver. | | ************************************************************** So, in there it is clearly stated what you have to do. I followed this conscientiously and it worked immediately. Maybe you should de-install the whole driver again, then re-install it but before continuing, first replace the .inf file with the one which is part of the patch. Hope you get it up and running.
