#91481 - MAX7219 Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Can someone elaborate on use of the MAX7219? I printed out the data sheet and read all the previous posts in this forum on it, but am still a bit unclear on its use.
First, what should I use to drive the additional current needed for my large displays? Would a 2N2222 do the trick? Second, could someone elaborate on how a single 7219 could drive eight seven segment displays? Is this performed in coding? If I understand correctly, say I sent a BCD "1" down the serial line. How do I then tell the 7219 that this byte of data should go to display number 4? If I understand correctly, this is accomplished through the use of the NO OP command, but if anyone could elaborate I would appreciate it. |
