I use the SP813L (MAX813L) for all my 8051 boards.
It can easy be disabled by a jumper during software development. Also a low active reset switch can be added. If you use a P0 pin as watchdog trigger you need a pull up resistor, otherwise the floating pin may interpreted as watchdog disable. Peter ...what's then the difference between the DS1232 and the MAX813L? You indeed also need some pulse to prevent the 'dog from barking' with the MAX813L... So, you can equally use a port pin for the DS1232 iso the ALE to avoid the reset of the uP due to a DS1232 WD trigger. And I would say the DS1232 has a slight advantage, since it has both levels of reset available. What (more?) benefits has the device you're proposing wrt the DS1232? Best rgds, --Geert |
