The best reference there is, is a "triple point cell", which can maintain a temperature of 0.010000 deg C. to roughly (!) +/- 40uK for several hours if prepared correctly. I seem to remember that one of the last, lamented, Amateur Scientist columns of Scientific American has some instructions for a reasonable home-made cell - better than any crushed ice standard.
