I think Replacement is necessary So erasing is not enough. You then have 999 locations occupied and 1 available. When the next call arrives that one available location gets filled. For EEPROMs "filled" means the bytes get overwritten by programming the new values. Most EEPROMs nowadays do not require a separate erase operation before writing. The device handles a write by performing an internal erase-before-write. |
