I say all things Michael said and say a bit more
In some case a voltmeter can be used instead of oscilloscope
for example when Xtal1 and Xtal2 pins voltage are about 2.2 volt
Clock part is working fine
Surendhran,I always in such situation that my program works fully in simulator but doesn't work in the main board
I am writing a simple test code and i send 0-1 periodically
to each pins,then i check all pins that directly is connected to MCU,for example I will check pins 4...14 from lcd,...
For a lcd if only one pin(EN,RS) is disconnected lcd can't work proper
I think you can find the cause easily using this method
