Mehdi has been trying to justify a practice and ended up counting the number of legs a cat is supposed to have ;-) The sick cat was interesting. We do practice this quick-n-dirty method to find if an MCU is kicking. With a good multimeter ( not a cheapo ) I have noticed that when you measure the ALE of an MCU running a particular code at 12MHz in 12 clock mode, you measure AROUND 1.63 V dc. Now for the warnings : > This is a CRUDE way to test if the MCU is clocking in the field TILL the O.Scope arrives. > The code that runs is IDENTICAL to the one with which this voltage was observed. > This in no way is a proper method. Just a fast one to use when you are forced to SAW with a FILE. With all this if you think that it is a job for an Oscilloscope.... you are right. Raghu |
