The existing Philips part is a 24-pin 0.300"-wide DIP. The space in which it resides is almost (not quite) 0.400" wide, between rows of key switches. Height is also a limitation.
What this thing does is to encode the keypad and implement the Apple ADB slave protocol. I really don't need that protocol, though it might be easier to implement it in yet another MCU rather than trying to replace the existing part with a reprogrammable one. RE |
