By the way, you can practice this technique without any fancy equipment for getting inside a real microcontroller. If you have any 8051 projects laying around that use external Eproms you can do the mental challenge on copies of the Eprom (Sure you can just read an Eprom and decode it).

The challenge becomes, can you do blind writes over the Eprom codespace in your programmer to create a RIDER and SKID to collect the codespace the hard way? It might be a good puzzle for a rainy day.
