Probably TI MSP430 (although I never tried them).
These are claimed to be low consumption; '51s are not.
Also some of the Microchip PICs are not bad, especially at very low frequencies. They at least publish consumption data over wide operation frequency and voltage. '51 vendors often don't, or specify them only for the highest operation frequencies (as is the case e.g. for LPC932).
