Why Erik?
there is absolutely no reason to stay away from the SILabs f3xx if you never plan to use another '51 derivative If you do, it will drive you nuts. The f3xx have oscillator INPUT on xtal2 where all other derivatives have it on XTAL1. Where standard derivatives have RCAP2, the f3xx have something named different that does the same. If you make IIC (SMB) code for F3xx it will not match any other deerivative with hard IIC so, you will have the joy of coding it again. In other words, if you do not spend the time to read all 200+ lines of the f3xx datasheet to detect all the "little cute differences" you will be screwed. Of course, if you start your '51 career with f3xx and then switch to a "normal" derivative (e.g. SILabd f1xx) you will have the same confusion, just the other way around. I have no idea why SILabs after making sensible derivatives (f0xx, f1xx, f2xx) started ignoring every well known "standard" of the '51, none of the stuff made it better, just different.. Erik |
