Is it possible to feed the strobe signal with the XTAL2 pin(said to be oscilator output)? DS1232 data sheet specifies the min !ST pulse width as 20 us. The oscillator is very susceptible against changes of stray capacitance and stray inductance. Both would you affect by routing the oscillator signal to DS1232, which might sit in a relevant distance. The only thing which is allowed to be directly connected to the oscillator signals is the input of one and only one CMOS gate sitting not farer away from micro than the quartz itself! This would minimize bad effects due to increased stray capacitance and stray inductance. Also, routing a high frequent clock signal across a board is always a very problematic issue. If there isn't a solid ground plane underneath, then this will create more problems than you intend to solve... Kai |
