#102506 - Mixed Signal 8051 Platform |
Think of this as a contest, call for help, great opportunity, slave labor, or the way to start your own fabless company...
Here goes, Triad Semiconductor, Winston Salem, NC (I work there) makes: Mixed Signal Structured ASIC platforms (MSSA). For those of us that have been around long enough that's a fancy name for a Gate-Array. The twist is that we have included Analog functions as well as logic and memory on the base array. So, with a single mask-layer change you can configure a platform with both analog and digital functions. [Disclosure: I'm in marketing and sales sort of, Director of Applications Engineering, but I'm also an ASIC designer with 17 years of experience.] Our first platform contains: 12 Analog Tiles Each Tile contains:
1 Buffer Stage Arrays of: R, C, Switches (SPST, SPDT), Transistors, and PMOS devices. We also have dedicated Low-Noise and Wide-Band OpAmps. So there are 30+ OpAmps and a variety of support components to make a wide range of continuous-time and switched-capacitor circuits. On the digital side, The we have 40K Logic Gates, 18KBytes of ROM, and 7KBytes of RAM. All of this is configured with Schematics and/or HDL with no full-custom IC layout required. FINALLY, MY QUESTION... We have lots of analog and BIG digital expertise but very little embedded micro know-how... We would like to offer our platform and an 8051 core to qualified 8051-Designers who would like to work with us to come up with reference designs on a chip that utilized the 8051 core and analog processing of your choice. We will provide the 8051 digital IP and our design libraries plus analog design and simulation software. You provide the analog and microprocessor design ideas and develop a reference application. In exchange we will fabricate your design idea and provide you with prototypes. If you have some good mixed-signal plus 8051 design ideas please let me know and we will see what we can work out. Also, we are just now coming out with a new Low-Power platform (50 nA bias current per OpAmp) that also contains a Temperature Sensor, Internal Programmable Oscillator, 8-bit ADC, 10-bit DAC, 10 Low-Power Analog Tiles, 15K Logic Gates, 20 64x16 RAMs, and 4Kx16 EEPROM. |
