#102511 - IP Ownership and Pricing Responding to: ???'s previous message |
You own the IP.
We are a platform company and we make money selling silicon (period). If you develop a design on our platform it remains your design. Here's where it may start to get interesting. The digital guys have had IP for quite some time now but Analog IP has been quite elusive. Since our Analog and Mixed-Signal designs are created at the schematic-level (OpAmps, Switches, R, C) and output as netlist, these designs then become reusable as IP. For example, we offer: 16-bit Sigma-Delta ADC, Switched Cap Filters (Low, High, Notch), Analog Muxes, Programmable Gain Instrumentation Amps, etc as FREE reusable IP (we want to sell Silicon). Also, we'd like to develop a community where IP developers such as yourself make your IP available within our design community and you get paid royalties from chip sells that use your IP. We have ways of encrypting / obfuscating your IP (encrypted HDL, macromodels versus for analog, etc). Instead of the customer having to worry about all the 3rd party licensing issues we (Triad) allow Alliance Members to prototype and use all the IP they want and once the IP is in production you receive royalties. You can of course set up support agreements for fee as you see needed. So, I'd see your complete application: Analog In, Filter, ADC, Microprocessor, and Speech Rec. Algorithm as both a standard product and Reusable IP (Add Voice Rec. to embedded product). Pricing: In volume the MSSA-1 is $2.50. |
