I don't know either.

Additionally to the ISP tool, which you can buy ready built from atmel, you will need the free isp software. Also, you will at least need a simple editor, to write the program, and an assembler, which translates what who you have written with the editor into machine code. Concretely spoken a hex-file is created. This hex-file is needed by the ISP software to do the programming.
