You mean the C compiler that came with the PJRC dev board isn't adequate/compatible?
Which is it? SDCC? Keil? Keil eval? Raisonance?, Raisonance eval?

If it is either of those there is no compatibility problem, if it is "adequate" is up to you.

just a note:
be careful with "breadboard" the fast fall and rise times of modern chips makes breadboarding more than just connecting a and b
