It's a fact, but teachers don't always get to select the textbooks, and, even if they do, which ones would YOU recommend?
The reference I made to the i8255-5 was from an old (1986) databook. AFAIK, that's as fast as they get. I don't think it's my place or yours to voice an opinion about which components a guy is using until we know why he's using them. In some parts of the world those older parts are no less available than the newer ones, and perhaps more so. Next time someone asks me about using an 8255 with an 805x, I'll be sure to tell him how that may limit his overall system performance because the MCU doesn't have a WAIT line. Before I say anything, though, I'll be sure I know what the MCU timing is, and how that works out for using an i8255. RE |
