The PC should be able to cope with a "real" mouse connected to the PS2 port, and other HIDs (Human-Interface Devices) on USB.
So you could make a USB HID with just the 2 extra buttons...

Sounds like this is overkill for this specific application:

but might be worth bearing in mind if anyone else has such a requirement...

Or it might just be a useful USB learning exercise...
