Unfortunately, you can't do that in this case - the MIDI baud rate is not a standard PC baud rate, and MIDI does not use an RS232 connection.

However, it would be still be worth getting it working with a PC terminal program at the next higher standard PC baud rate (38400), over RS232, first - then at least you'd know that your serial comms was working.

Once you have serial RS232 comms working, then check that it works over your opto isolators with the terminal program at the standard baud rate.

Finally, switch to the proper MIDI baud rate and soundcard.
