You have a scope.

Send the Leter Capital 'U' (55 hex) Look at it on the Scope.

Measure a bit 1/bit time = the baud rate.

Thats why they make scopes.
If it is digital it is easy. If it is an analog scope send the U out in a loop. This will keep the scope triggered.
While you are there check the start and stop and the signal level.
make sure the rise time is good. Maybe it is not software.

If coding was easy I would be home now.
