#118224 - the problem and a possible solution Responding to: ???'s previous message |
i am using a 12v power supply.in my application the chasis is connected to earth.i have to check whether the 12v or 0v(ground) gets shorted with the chasis and display the fault.how do i sense this fault.and how do i practically check it
The problem is that, unless you reference the chassis (with an offset?) to ground, you can not detect if it is connected. In other words: if your chassis is floating it will show no differential voltage to ground. If you can do it without violating whatever reasdon you have for no ground connection, one possibility would be to have a resistor connected between, say, 24V off ground and the chassis. Then, if the chassis (and 12V) is floating, no current will flow, if either is grounded, current will flow. Erik |
