There is definitely something wrong with the timing, a short or a bus-contention. Believe me: You don't need 3 drivers per line. My HP laserjet printer easily drives 5 meter of printer cable with a standard 74LS244 bus driver. Only problem you should worry about is electro-static discharge and grounding problems that could blow the chip during plugging/unplugging of the cable. Jesper |
