.. to use a derivative (e.g. SILabs) where you can drive the UART(timer) directly from the clock. for 115kb you will need quite a high click speed to achieve it by traditioanl means.
Another means some chips have (again e.g. SILabs) is the ability to switch between clocks or change the setting of a PLL so you can run low speed when that will do and a higher speed when required.
