Another question might be is "what is the anticipated data packet sizes."?
If you have large amounts of data consistently being transmitted or received, then you need to consider the time to respond to each packet and how big your Tx an Rx buffers are. Are any of the UARTs used for debugging or non-immediate transmission? On most 8051.... 8052 style micro's there is a little hardware to receive or transmit via the UARTs.... more advanced 80c51s have additional hardware Tx and Rx buffers.. to reduce the software overload, JG |
