the basics is to select one digit and at thet time provide the segment display data for that digit.
IF you multiplex, nobody has stated "you MUST" multiplex. There are oodles of bunches of ways to drive LEDs, some use multiplex, some don't. One often overlooked effect of multiplexing is that you must choose LEDs that are n times brighter than you need when you multiplex. n = number of LEDs multiplexed. There are designs where a standard gate had enough oomph to deliver the necessary power for the LEDs when not multiplexed. Changing such an app to high power drivers and multiplexing plus a more powerful LED often is counterproductive costwise. Erik |
