How can I interface the 89c52 microcontroler with ethernet cable in order to control devices through it? I'm working with the Dallas DS80C411 right now, and it provides quite a host of features that makes the process of making your device Internet-ready much simplified. You can also buy a Packet Whacker which is nothing more than an Ethernet IC and RJ45 connector on a PCB that can easily be mated to your 8052 project. You can then access the Ethernet IC using a memory-mapped I/O scheme. Using this approach, any 8052 that can drive external memory can be made to be Ethernet-ready. Of course, you'll have the pleasure of writing a TCP/IP stack (or acquiring it elsewhere). Regards, Craig Steiner |
