I have a HP with ME OS and I use Peter's Programmer. I had to make a set of DOS 6.22 boot disk to start the computer and do all of my work under DOS. As long as the file wasn't bigger than the disk would hold I was OK. Another option is to install W98 on your new laptop. Just be sure that you get the correct drivers for all of the other functions and devices. HP had them in archive and I down loaded them.
