You clearly want EEPROM, not EPROM. The EEPROM is nonvolatile and both readable and writeable. A serial version is probably adequate. IIC or SPI interfaceable varieties seem to be popular.
Whether you can change MCU's is up to you. I'd suggest you at least look for a device with a RAM buffer on board that's battery-back-able. That way you won't get caught with a power loss in the midst of writing from RAM buffer to EEPROM, which can take a while. You also won't get caught with serial comm's interrupting your EEPROM write, which might be inconvenient. RE |
