You should still consider the idea of two buffers, as Maarten suggested in this post. You may need two buffers so that you can display the current message out of one buffer at the same time you load the new message into the other buffer. Otherwise, you may have to either stop the display during the download (maybe okay???), or else display a corrupted message while the download is underway (probably not okay???).
