#127984 - Sounds like an earthing problem >> Russell
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Hi Russell Bull,
Many thanks for your suggestions.

If you only connect one variable speed drive, play around with the different possibilities of the RS485 shield to earth or to ground.

At that time I had connected all the 4 AC Drives at the same time. But I did not try by connecting only one ac drive. I will try that and will also work with the possibilities of GND and Earth.

Is the cable from the VSD to the motor shielded? And properly earthed?

I am Not Sure I checked this, But I will ensure that it is properly connected to earth.

Is there any change when you remove the 100R resistor (in many cases this is not necessary of the data rate is low and/or the cable length is short).

I did test this accidently once, and the communication worked well. But for the sake of reliability, I placed the terminating resistors at both the ends of the cable. The Data Rate is 9600.
The Total cable Length is about 15~20 meters long.

Thanks again,
From Kiran V Sutar
