Erik, the motors I assume we are talking about are induction motors since the use of AC variable speed drives. In this instance it is not the motors that are making the noise but the AC drive itself. Shielded cable to the motor is a must otherwise it will radiate like a radio transmitter. Twisted pair cable is a must. RS485 is reasonably tolerant of many things, but not using twisted pair is inviting trouble. Using twisted pair is more important than the termination resistors! Erik, what is the issue with using shielded twisted pair? I tend to use kilometres of the stuff. |
