1. Why was my lcd not getting initalised ...... was it because the sytem was getting reset many number of times No: it was because the system was not being reset properly at all - so anything could've been happening! if i were to give a ....... say 1 second ...... do noting routine in the beginning ..... shouldn't that take care of the lcd initialisation If your system is not working properly, then the 1s delay won't work properly either, would it? what exactly does a supervisor ic do A reset generator ensures that the system will always start correctly, by generating a guaranteed clean reset signal. A "supervisor" usually adds additional features that ensure that the processor is held in reset when the power supply is outside the operating specifications - thus ensuring that it doesn't go into "undefined behaviour" Some "supervisors" also add a Watchdog - which allows your software to recover from certain errors. |
