#130825 - Pins Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Yes, but the serial port shares its pins (RXD, TXD) with Port 3, doesn't it?
See "4.6 Port 3" at the top of p5. Yes, that is indeed true. Sorry, I'm not used to these spec sheets. I have read the thing, but so much of it is just going over my head. So I can make the voltage right with a couple of resistors. I am limited to 9600 baud because the crystal operating the AT89C55WD is a 20MHz one, not the more flexible looking 22.1184MHz version. I doubt changing the crystal is an option, I have no idea what issues doing so would create. Maybe it was just for debug? One of our production guys seems to recall there used to be an instrument connected to that socket. He couldn't remember when or what for. The general consensus is that it is not used. As a self-confessed non-hardware guy, don't you think it might be better to hire someone in to do this on a subcontract basis? If there was budget, I'd jump at it. |
