Keil certainly like to call it a simulator?[1] Sure, it doesn't do the full timing simulation, and simulation of signals at port pins, etc - but it doesn't claim to. These days, I'm told, it includes natty features like a "logic analyser" - though I haven't tried that myself! I think you could certainly call it an instruction-set simulator - which is fine for basic software logic debugging. [1] To be pedantic, the IDE includes a so-called simulator. |
