#131397 - Semantics Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hi Andy,
I just tend to call it a debugger, although I pretty much think of it as a simulation. The fact is that I know there are software tools that are called simulators, and some other ones that are called emulators, and I couldn't tell you the difference if you held a gun to my head. Frankly, I'd bet that if I had called Keil's debugging tools a simulator, there'd be a thread of at least 5 posts under mine, each taking their turn to telling my how wrong I was for calling it a simulator and starting a debate over which is better, a simulator or an emulator. For my money (which, by the way, was none of it) Keil's debugger does all I need, whatever it's called. Of course, I do have something (that I still won't call a simulator) that goes way beyond Keil's debugging tools. Moreover it fully addresses all of Erik's concerns about simulations/emulations in that it definitively accounts for derivative specific variations. It's called an LPKF C60. Later, Joe |
