#134380 - on language and projects
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Sairam,

what might make you confused is, that this is formally a forum which you might have seen thousands - and on all of them you might come across a similar language than you have used here.

However, this forum is slightly different from others, in various ways.

First, the average age of people attending it is most probably significantly higher than of those other forums. I'd guess that the majority of users here is in the age of your HoD. And, it might quite well be, that your first employer/boss will be of the about same age.

This has several consequences - one of them is that we have "quirks", but we can very well explain, why. One of those quirks is insistence on proper language usage (as far as possible - note how many errors I make, being a non-native english speaker) - you have been given the reason for this above.

The second quirk is the repeated requirement to make more precise description of your problem. This can be understood: we want to give you as precise answer as possible, for which a vague question gives not enough information. Also, we want to give you as many options as possible - and that would go into a wild guessing unless you provide feedback.

So, please, be a little bit patient with us and type down all those letters as appropriate. Thank you.

Jan Waclawek

PS. In a local professional mailing list I mentioned several times already, we customarily use the polite form of "you" (as using "Sie" in German), although this is not the usual case in any other casual communication over the net here.
