I know there are sometimes objections on "construction" final-year-work here too, on grounds of being "not scientific enough". Although most of the work will be most probably "standard engineering", for purposes of presentation, I'd concentrate most on the possibly intricate ways of producing a full set of test cases, and/or evaluating all the possible modes of failure of the device-under-test; or something similarly "esoteric"...
