We have made chips that had a path of input Schmitt trigger - inverter - output buffer rather than the desired crystal oscillator. Those didn't work as a crystal oscillator. They did run pretty good as a +100 MHz ring oscillator though.
You obviously have more experience than I with oscillators made out of packaged inverters, and I yield to your experience. |
