The data sheet for these parts could use a clearer method for showing which pin is which. They give numbers in one picture and names on another. And then the use of the name VS for the +Power Supply lead can be confusing since this is often used for a ground connection along with the similar VSS. So please look at my interpretation of the data sheet pinning and see if it agrees with what you wired up.
