A temperature measurement from inside a running CPU is not going to be anything like the temperature in your system. You need an external sensor. For ease of use, if not accuracy, the Dallas part that Charles mentioned is good, as to are some offerings from Maxim. Erik is bang on with his benefits from a microcontroller based box, the possibilities for enhancements become much larger. It will probably still be cheaper than your thermal switch. Steve |
