Hai friends,

I am new to 8052uC. For the past few days I am struggling with at89c52 to bring the results in ports. I just wanted to interface LCD with this. But i was unable to. I have tried to toggle each and every port, but at the port it only gives a millivolt output. I am using port 0.

I am following the conventional circuit which was given in the book. That is connecting 9th pin to -ve terminal of capacitor and +ve to +vcc, then a swith to reset. 31st pin to +vcc, 20th pin to GND, 40th pin to +vcc.

Now my condition is -

1. LCD's (16x2)gives first row glowing with full of squares, which I cam to know that it is okay!!

2. Tried to change the program, but I have tried the same program in another board with 8052, the LCD gives proper output.

3. Now my problem is in the hardware unit. Can anyone suggest where I am doing the mistake??

Looking for your assistance, Thank you.

hi tulasi,
i suppose u r just one step back as i suppose.
everything is perfect in ur hardware but a small step. i suppose the following instruction would assist u:
1)one of the pin in lcd (see its data book) is for brightness control. if the voltage in the pin is equal to vcc, the problem goes to be like urs.
2) use the 3-pin pot (variable resistor) of about 5k-20k, connect one side's two pins to vcc and gnd respectively and the other side's one pin to the brightness control pin of the lcd u r using.
I think this should solve ur problem. kindly email me to vidya798@yahoo.com if u find it useful.

one of the other problem might be using another port or pulling up the port0 with 10k resistors. but the above mentioned solution may be the true solution.
regards
