Seems like oscilloscope time to me. Sounds like there must be a timing violation that has crept into the code in 4-bit mode that is not present in the 8-bit mode.
Note as well that using the oscilloscope to study the generated waveforms and carefully writing down what you see can give insight to the code that you wrote that you do not get with just staring at the listing or pondering the result. Michael Karas |
