#153240 - But does that really require real time?! Responding to: ???'s previous message |

like i have to hotlist some card that is now there cards are not allowed to access the terminal. But does that actually need to be real time?! ie, how often does the "hotlist" change? Wouldn't polling at, say, a 5-minute interval be sufficient? From a purely operational viewpoint, wouldn't it be easier to keep the "hotlist" on the server? Especially as this is a security system, is it wise to have the "hotlist" on the remote device at all? Doesn't that bring more security issues - eg, keeping the "hotlist" itself secure...? or i want to get or set date from the terminal.etc Is "date" there a typo for "data"? Clearly, setting the date doesn't need to be real time! If it's "data", what data do you need to get/set? Why does it need to be done in real time? these function should be real time. You still haven't answered the questions: What exactly do you mean by "real-time"?
What is your hard requirement for minimum response time from the Server to the Client? What, exactly, does the Server need this "real-time" response for? What is the restriction that prevents you from Polling at an appropriate rate? http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=153140 Again, how can anybody help you to meet these requirements if you don't clearly state what they are?! |
