I built a lightly modified version of the DL2TM programmer for 2051/4051 uCs
all kitchen table programmers we have heard of a) works if you are the person that 'designed' it and may work for others b) are totally intolerant of modifications examples of a) are legio, an example of b) is that replacicg a HC chip with a LS made it fail. if you have a fully equipped laboaratory, hook up your logic analyzer and verify the timings of the programming pulses are as in the datasheet.
