Your missing the UART functions. I was more or less thinking about the lookup table itself. But I can see how the code is a bit large for its purpose.

I was having problems with Brett's code on in the respect that I forgot to give it a return variable to dump it in......

It was late, and I was tired, I'll look at both/all solutions fresh this morning and retry code it to knock the size down.
