There are other things to consider as well besides the driver, voltage/current, acceleration algorithm, and maximum stepping rate. Some of these are:

1) Match between rotational inertia of armature versus rotational inertia of load.

2) Torque capabilities of the motor.

3) Torque required to move/stop the load.

4) Stiffness of the coupling of the load to the motor.

5) Free play and backlash in any gearing that may be used.

6) Elasticity and belt slap of any drive belt that may be used.

7) Resistance of the subsystem mounting to vibration.
